"killer buyer" on Labor Day 1995. She was wearing a hip tag from a Friday sale.
After kicking and beating her she rose to her feet. The "killer buyer" stated

When she started to walk, blood started oozing from her coronary band. A veterinarian called to the auction euthanised the mare. She had sores on her body and a full udder. This mare was found down in the killer pens on Labor Day 1996. Her owner had her dropped off on the Thursday before the sale. He hoped to get $25 for her. A veterinarian called to the auction by the Humane League of Lancaster Countyeuthanised this severely foundered mare. Her udder was also full, kept around till her foal could be weaned. Another foundered mare was not so lucky that day. Down in the kill pens, she was stepped on many times.
